Israel continues to target health facilities in the Gaza Strip. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in his announcement, "WHO, the UN, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society reached the besieged Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza, over the weekend and transferred 24 patients, including a pregnant woman, a mother, and a newborn."

Stating that the hospital was subjected to 40 attacks between January 22 and February 22, Ghebreyesus said, "At least 25 people died in these attacks, and the hospital has been rendered unusable. 31 patients are still at the hospital."

"HEALTH WORKERS MUST BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY"

Reporting that health workers affiliated with the Palestine Red Crescent Society were mistreated by Israeli forces while leaving Al-Amal Hospital, despite performing their duties only with full coordination and security guarantees, Ghebreyesus said, "Three health workers were detained. One has since been released. We call for the immediate release of the other two and all other health workers being held in detention."

PALESTINE RED CRESCENT SOCIETY HAD SUSPENDED OPERATIONS FOR 48 HOURS

The Palestine Red Crescent Society announced yesterday that it had suspended all humanitarian coordination procedures regarding medical missions in the Gaza Strip for the next 48 hours due to the inability to ensure the safety of the wounded and patients.

Stating that the decision was made as a result of Israeli forces failing to respect the procedures and coordination mechanisms agreed upon with United Nations agencies, the Palestine Red Crescent Society stated that its teams were held for more than 7 hours and subjected to mistreatment by Israeli forces while leaving Al-Amal Hospital.
