Asma al-Assad diagnosed with leukemia: 'I will win this battle'

Asma al-Assad, the First Lady of Syria, a country where war has reigned for many years, has released a video following the news that she has been diagnosed with leukemia.

The 48-year-old wife of President Bashar al-Assad and mother of three children thanked her supporters in her statement, saying she had received many messages of support.

In her statement in Arabic, Assad said that the messages she received gave them strength as a family.

'I WILL WIN WITH FAITH'

Stating that everyone fighting against this disease must be strong not only to beat the illness but also to endure being separated from their loved ones, Assad said, "I will fight this battle with faith, my faith in God, and your prayers."

Asma al-Assad, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, announced a year later that she had completely overcome the disease.
