According to the Israeli press, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a synagogue in Yerevan, breaking the synagogue's windows and leaving paint on its walls. It was reported that the Molotov cocktail did not ignite, but the structure sustained damage.
THEY ISSUED THREATS
According to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN), a group calling itself the "Armenian Young Warriors" claimed responsibility for the attack. Accusing Israel and world Jewry of "supporting Azerbaijan," the group stated in its announcement that "Jews are enemies of the Armenian people." The group described this attack as a "warning" and threatened to "burn synagogues in other countries" if Jewish rabbis in the US and Europe continue to support the Azerbaijani administration.
Pinchas Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis, described the attack as "dangerous" and called on the Armenian government to "increase security for synagogues and find those responsible for this antisemitic attack to bring them to justice."
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the X social media platform, condemning the attack and stating that there is "no place for hatred and intolerance" in Armenia.
