Death toll in Germany attack rises to 5
Another person who was critically injured in the attack on a Christmas market in Germany has lost their life. The number of people who died due to the attack has risen to 5.
According to reports by German public broadcaster ARD's WDR and NDR television channels, citing security sources, the number of people who died in the attack that took place yesterday evening has risen to 5, and the number of injured is stated to be over 200.
Information shared by the German press regarding the attacker indicated that the 50-year-old perpetrator had been living in Germany since 2006 and held a permanent residence permit in the country, worked as a physician in the city of Bernburg, and had made posts on his social media accounts "showing that he was concerned about the rise of Islam in Germany."
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the Christmas market where the attack took place, received information from officials regarding the incident, and spoke with citizens.
