The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the defense cooperation agreement signed between the US and the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA).
A 'Bilateral Defense Cooperation Roadmap' agreement has been signed between the US and the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the signed agreement in a statement, reacting by stating that the US has adopted a biased stance.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its reaction with the words, 'We condemn the signing of a roadmap for the development of cooperation in the field of defense between the US and the GCA.'
The statement further noted, 'Steps taken to the detriment of the security of the Turkish Cypriot side damage the US's neutral stance on the Island and make it difficult to find a permanent solution to the Cyprus issue.'
The statement used the words, 'We condemn the signing of a roadmap for the development of cooperation in the field of defense between the US and the GCA.'
It was stated that the views expressed in the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) regarding the matter are shared, and it was emphasized that the 'justified reaction' put forward by the TRNC authorities is 'fully supported.'
The statement underlined that the agreement would also harm the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the following expressions were recorded:
'These steps taken to the detriment of the security of the Turkish Cypriot side, including the announcement by US authorities last June that a strategic dialogue would be initiated with the GCA, damage the US's neutral stance towards the Island of Cyprus and make it difficult to find a fair, permanent, and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue. In this context, we believe that policies that could harm regional stability should be reviewed. Motherland and guarantor state Turkey will continue to ensure the security and welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people under all circumstances.'
It had been announced that a 'Bilateral Defense Cooperation Roadmap' agreement was signed between the US and the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) against international security concerns.
According to the statement made by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), it was pointed out that the stability and security of Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean are of 'vital importance' for both the US and the GCA.
