50-year-old Saudi doctor Talep A., who drove a rented vehicle into the Christmas Market in the German city of Magdeburg at 19:04 yesterday evening, is being interrogated.

The dark aspects of the doctor, who drove his car at high speed for 400 meters through the Christmas Market, killing five people—including a 2-year-old child—and injuring 205, 41 of them seriously, are coming to light.

It has been determined that the Saudi doctor, who lived in Bernburg, 46 kilometers from Magdeburg, and worked at the Bernburg Clinic, a 10-minute walk from his home, was a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. Talep A., who had requested asylum in Germany and held a permanent residence permit, wrote on one hand that Saudi Arabia wanted to kill him, and on the other that Germany was "hunting Saudi asylum seekers." Talep A. also defended the anti-immigrant policies of the AfD.

SAUDI ARABIA HAD WARNED

It has been stated that Saudi Arabia had warned Germany that the doctor, who introduced himself as the "greatest critic of Islam" and posted messages in that vein, had become "radicalized."

However, the timing of this warning is unknown. Talep A.'s home and office at the clinic were searched, and his messages on the X platform are also confusing.

Talep A., who is thought to show signs of psychological distress, shared images of automatic rifles with "USA" written on them in his messages and used the following expressions:

The contradictory and irrational statements in his messages on the X platform are striking and create the impression that the attacker suffers from psychological disorders.

Talep A., who is said to have rented the Munich-registered car used in the incident, was caught immediately after the attack and taken into custody after being pinned to the ground. Allegations that there was another vehicle involved in the attack have been denied.
