Spanish Minister for Ecological Transition Sara Aagesen announced that approximately 77,000 hectares of land have been damaged by fires in the Madrid, Avila, and Toledo regions.
FIRE APPROACHES BORDEAUX
In France, firefighting teams reported that the fire continuing in the Gironde region has advanced to within 15 kilometers of Bordeaux, a city with a population of approximately 850,000. Bordeaux Mayor Thomas Cazenave stated that there are currently no plans to evacuate the city.
Gironde Prefect Sophie Brocas also told reporters, "I am asking tourists not to come."
