Hakan Fidan's statement on the Strait of Hormuz: 'We could participate in mine-clearing operations'

Speaking to journalists in London, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Turkey's participation in potential mine-clearing efforts in the Strait of Hormuz is on the table. Fidan expressed that they evaluate such operations under the framework of a technical team and within the scope of humanitarian responsibility.

MINE-CLEARING EFFORTS

Minister Fidan pointed out that new cooperation opportunities could emerge in the region following peace steps between countries, stating, "Under the conditions in question, we would have no problem participating in mine-clearing efforts, but if the established technical coalition were to become a party to a conflict in the future, we would certainly re-evaluate our position."

Touching upon developments regarding Iran's nuclear program during the talks, Fidan shared his hope that the fundamental issues could be resolved in the next round of negotiations to be held in Pakistan.
