Headscarf decision in France: Aid to supporters will be cut
In France, the Ile-de-France region, which includes Paris, has decided to stop funding clubs that support allowing basketball players to wear headscarves during matches.
According to a report by the network of local and regional radio stations in France, France Bleu, 69 basketball clubs, 65 of which are in the Ile-de-France region, sent a letter to the French Basketball Federation (FBF) a few days ago.
In the letter, they requested that the federation amend its internal regulations to allow basketball players to wear headscarves during matches.
HEADSCARF WAS BANNED
While the French Football Federation and the FBF prohibit athletes from wearing headscarves in matches, the French Handball Federation allows it.
