Heavy rainfall paralyzes life in Greece

Heavy rainfall that has continued for four days in Greece has caused serious flooding across the country. As streets turned into rivers, many vehicles were swept away by floodwaters and homes were submerged. The Attica, Peloponnese, Crete, Euboea, Rhodes, Sporades islands, and Thessaly regions were among the areas most affected by the floods.

Due to the storm, schools were closed in many regions, and life on the islands has come to a near standstill. Emergency teams struggled to reach flood victims on water-covered roads. The government issued warnings to citizens to stay away from basements and not to leave their homes unless necessary.

Meteorologists estimate that the impact of the storm will decrease tomorrow. It was reported that 200 to 250 tons of rain fell across the country during the critical hours.
