It was claimed it would be sold to a Gulf country: Kremlin statement on S-400s
It has been stated that Russia is in contact with Ankara regarding the status of the S-400 air defense systems delivered to Turkey and that discussions are continuing with sensitivity.
The Kremlin has responded to the latest developments regarding the S-400 air defense system between Russia and Turkey. Following reports suggesting the potential sale of the S-400s to third countries, it was reported that Russia is in close communication with Ankara.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov answered journalists' questions on the matter during a press briefing. Peskov pointed out that discussions on this issue are ongoing, particularly following reports that the S-400s would be sold to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Avoiding giving details on the subject, Peskov emphasized that the issue is a strategic one that carries great sensitivity. Peskov stated, “I can only say one thing here: This subject falls into a highly sensitive area. We have had contacts with the Turkish side on this matter, and we will continue these contacts.”
The Kremlin did not directly answer questions regarding whether Turkey had received permission from Russia for the sale of the S-400s to third countries or how Russia approaches these developments. However, it was stated that the military-technical cooperation process between the two countries will continue through mutual discussions in the coming period.
