Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam made a statement following the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump between Lebanon and Israel.
Nawaf said, "I welcome the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump.
This was a vital demand for Lebanon, which we have been working on since the first day of the war and which was the main goal of our meeting in Washington on Tuesday."
Offering his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the Israeli attacks, Nawaf expressed his hope that those displaced by the attacks would return to their homes as soon as possible.
Nawaf also added, "I also thank all regional and international efforts that contributed to reaching this result, especially the US, France, and European Union countries, as well as all brotherly Arab countries; particularly Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan."
US President Donald Trump had announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, which would begin tonight at 00.00 Turkish time.
