Military helicopter crashes in Ecuador: 8 dead

Ecuador's military stated that 5 soldiers and 3 civilians on board the helicopter that crashed in the Amazon Rainforest lost their lives.

It was stated that an investigation into the accident has been launched.

The statement noted that the individuals who lost their lives in the helicopter crash were a team affiliated with the Ecuadorian Government's Risk Management Secretariat (SGR), and that they were on a mission to assist those affected by flooding in the city of Pastaza, located in the Amazon province.

'I AM DEEPLY SADDENED'

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa said in a statement on his social media account that he felt "deep" sadness over the accident.

Offering his condolences to the families of the deceased team, Noboa stated, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident involving soldiers and public officials providing humanitarian aid. They undertook a heroic mission to help Ecuadorians."
