Netanyahu: I foresee the war ending much faster than people think
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said regarding the attacks on Iran, "I also foresee that this war will end much faster than people think."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference regarding the war between Israel and the US against Iran. At the meeting, which was also attended by the foreign press, Netanyahu accused Iran of trying to blackmail the world by closing the Strait of Hormuz, stating, "It won't work. Israel is helping the American effort to open the Strait of Hormuz through its own methods, intelligence, and other means."
Rejecting the claim that Israel is dragging the US into the war, Netanyahu said, "Do they really think they can tell President Trump what to do? President Trump always makes his decisions by thinking about what is good for the US."
Netanyahu stated that Trump told him that Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, claiming, "He didn't need to be convinced."
"A revolution cannot be made from the air"
Netanyahu said, "Choosing that moment and reaching that moment is something up to the Iranian people. A revolution cannot be made from the air. You cannot do this only from the air. You can do many things from the air, and we are doing them, but there must also be a ground component. There are many possibilities for this ground component, but I will not share all the possibilities with you."
"We are not counting the days"
In response to a question about when the war will end, Netanyahu replied, "We want to dismantle the nuclear program, and we are doing that. I think these are achievable goals, but I will not put a calendar or a stopwatch on this. I think we have goals that need to be reached, and we are not counting the days."
"Instead of passing through bottlenecks like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, alternative routes should be created"
Netanyahu claimed, "I think what needs to be done is to create alternative routes instead of passing through bottlenecks like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. This way, pipelines for oil flow and gas pipelines would go through the Arabian Peninsula to the west, to Israel, and to our Mediterranean ports, and we would eliminate these choke points forever."
"I see that this war will end much faster than people think"
Netanyahu said, "I also foresee that this war will end much faster than people think."
The admission that "Israel acted on its own regarding the gas facility"
Regarding a question about US President Trump saying today that he was not pleased with Israel's attack on Iran's gas fields, Netanyahu said, "First of all, Israel acted on its own regarding the gas facility. Secondly, President Trump asked us to postpone future attacks, and we are waiting. Are there any signs that the Iranian regime is cracking? There are many signs."
"The Iranian regime may survive"
Netanyahu said, "Now, can I guarantee to you that the regime in Iran will collapse? What I can tell you is that we are trying to create the necessary conditions for the regime to collapse. But the Iranian regime may survive. It may not. If it survives, it will be much weaker."
"I did not mislead anyone"
In response to a question alluding to the accusation that they misled the Washington administration to convince the US of this war, Netanyahu said, "I did not mislead anyone. I did not need to convince President Trump about the necessity of preventing Iran from developing its nuclear program, moving it underground, and becoming capable of launching nuclear-tipped missiles at the US. He understood this himself. He explained it to me."
"We have plans for the future in Lebanon"
Regarding a question about Lebanon, Netanyahu said, "I cannot disclose our war plans. We have plans for the future in Lebanon. To be clear, our number one effort is directed at Iran."
