New US sanctions against Iran
The US administration has added 1 individual and 8 companies to its sanctions list on the grounds that they provided the procurement and transport of sensitive machinery for Iran's defense industry.
In a statement from the US Department of the Treasury, it was reported that entities supplying sensitive machinery for Iran's defense industry were targeted.
The statement noted that 1 individual and 8 companies were added to the sanctions list on the grounds that they provided the procurement and transport of sensitive machinery for Iran's defense industry.
Furthermore, the statement indicated that sanctions were also imposed on a vessel belonging to the Hong Kong-based Unico Shipping, and that these sanctions aim to prevent Iran from developing its missile and other weapons capabilities, as well as to cut off access to resources for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its proxy elements.
In the statement, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, "The United States is committed to disrupting all of Iran's efforts to procure sensitive, dual-use technology, components, and machinery that form the foundation of the regime's ballistic missile, unmanned aerial vehicle, and asymmetric weapons programs."
Emphasizing that those who support these plans will be held accountable, Bessent noted that they will continue to reduce Iran's ability to produce and proliferate these lethal weapons that threaten regional stability and global security.
