Putin ready to host Zelensky in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Moscow, stating that he is open to talks to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Russian President Vladimir Putin made statements to journalists in Beijing following his four-day visit to China. Sharing details of the agreement reached on natural gas trade between China and Russia, Putin stated that an annual gas shipment of 100 billion cubic meters could be possible. He noted that China would purchase gas based on market prices, which would be advantageous for both sides.
Putin emphasized that he is always open to meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky. Mentioning that US President Donald Trump had also asked about the possibility of such a meeting, Putin said, "If Zelensky is ready, let him come to Moscow and let this meeting take place." Stating that the meeting must be well-prepared, Putin said that if common sense prevails, a solution regarding Ukraine could be reached. He added that the Trump administration is also making a sincere effort for a solution.
NEGOTIATIONS WITH UKRAINE
Putin reiterated their opposition to Ukraine joining NATO and stated that providing security guarantees in exchange for a land swap is not on their agenda. He expressed that the issue of territory in Ukraine should be resolved through a referendum, but that a referendum cannot be held under martial law.
Stating that he is satisfied with the work of Vladimir Medinsky, who headed the Russian delegation in the direct negotiations in Istanbul, Putin said they are ready to raise the level of the Russian delegation in the negotiations.
Having held a brief meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Beijing, Putin stated that there are some problems in the relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, but that the desire to improve relations could overcome these issues.
