Qatar: Attempting to kill negotiators is treacherous

Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held a press conference following Israel's attack on a Hamas delegation in the Qatari capital, Doha. Al-Thani characterized the Israeli attack as "state terrorism."

Stating that Qatar reserves the right to respond to Israel's attack, Al-Thani said that no violation of his country's sovereignty would be tolerated. Al-Thani noted that Qatar would adopt a comprehensive approach to respond to the Israeli attack and deter future ones, adding that he would establish a team to pursue legal actions in response to the Israeli aggression.

"WE HAVE REACHED A TURNING POINT"

Calling for a regional response against Israel, Al-Thani stated that Netanyahu is dragging the entire region toward a point of no return by disregarding international law and norms, saying, "Today, we have reached a turning point for the entire region to react against this barbaric behavior."

"ATTEMPTING TO KILL NEGOTIATORS IS TREACHEROUS"

Stating that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is sabotaging efforts for peace in the Gaza Strip, Al-Thani noted that attempting to kill negotiators in a country conducting ceasefire talks is unethical and treacherous.

Al-Thani declared that Netanyahu claims to be providing stability in the region, but is only creating instability for his personal interests through narcissistic fantasies. Al-Thani stated that they are in contact with friendly nations and will soon announce measures to be taken against Israel, adding, "Attempting to violate the sovereignty of countries without regard should not be ignored and must be responded to by all means."

Refuting claims that the U.S. warned Qatar before the Doha attack, Al-Thani said, "This was a 100 percent treacherous attack; no one was aware of it until it happened. U.S. officials warned Qatar about the Israeli attack 10 minutes after it had begun."

Addressing reports that Qatar has suspended its mediation role in the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip following the Doha attack, Al-Thani said, "Mediation efforts are part of Qatar's identity, and nothing can deter it from its role in this regard."

Expressing his doubts about the validity of the latest talks held at the suggestion of the U.S., Al-Thani said, "As for the current talks, I do not think there is anything valid at the moment after seeing such an attack."

Al-Thani also stated that Israel used weapons in the attack that could not be detected by air defense systems.
