At least 8 people lost their lives in missile and drone attacks carried out by Russia against Ukraine throughout the night. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the attacks were carried out across the country with 70 missiles and 280 drones.
Zelenskyy stated that the most severe consequences of the attacks were experienced around his hometown of Kryvyi Rih. It was reported that numerous houses, civilian infrastructure, and some facilities in the region were damaged.
It was reported that 7 people, including children aged 6, 11, and 17, lost their lives in an attack on the village of Radushne, a few kilometers from Kryvyi Rih. It was announced that two houses were destroyed and 8 people were injured in the attack. Authorities announced that an 84-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and two children were pulled alive from the rubble.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that one person lost their life and 2 people were injured in the capital. It was reported that a Nova Poshta terminal was targeted in Poltava, and that buildings were damaged and people were injured due to explosions in Lviv.
POLAND ON ALERT IN BORDER REGION
Following the attacks, Poland, a member of the European Union and NATO, scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace. The Polish Armed Forces announced that security measures have been increased in the Lublin region near the Ukrainian border.
The statement noted that a report was received regarding a loud explosion heard in the Bilgoraj district of the Lublin region, and that a crater and debris from an unidentified object were found in a field.
