South Korea announces: North Korea fired an unidentified missile off its east coast

The South Korean military reported that North Korea has fired an unidentified missile toward the sea located to the east of the Korean Peninsula.

While no details regarding the type of missile were shared in the statement, the Japanese government indicated that the object launched by Pyongyang could be a ballistic missile.

North Korea's latest launch follows a series of tests throughout the year involving short-range ballistic missiles, artillery rockets, and various tactical weapons aimed at increasing military capacity.

According to North Korean state media KCNA, the last confirmed launch at the end of June involved an upgraded 240-millimeter multiple launch rocket system, tactical ballistic missiles, and 155-millimeter self-propelled howitzers.
