South Korea decides to 'ban' TikTok song praising Kim Jong Un
South Korea has announced it will ban a North Korean propaganda song that went viral on TikTok, which praises Pyongyang leader Kim Jong Un as a "friendly father" and a "great leader."
According to a report by the BBC, the South Korea Communications Commission issued a statement regarding the video that began circulating on the social media platform TikTok in April.
The statement noted that the video in question contains content "contrary" to South Korea's National Security Act, and provided information that all versions of the song, which includes the lyrics "Let's praise Kim Jong Un, the great leader, let's boast about fatherly Kim," will be banned.
The statement, which noted that the song "praises" and "glorifies" Kim Jong Un, described the video as a "typical example of psychological warfare conducted by North Korea against the South."
The statement also recorded that the decision to ban the content was made upon a request from South Korea's National Intelligence Service.
