Tornado nightmare in the US: 14 dead

The US has been hit by tornadoes. While the tornadoes that were effective throughout the night in the Central and Southern regions left behind significant damage, at least 14 people lost their lives.

David Roth, a meteorologist at the National Weather Prediction Center, reported that a low-pressure system caused powerful storms in parts of the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi, and Missouri, and that 26 tornadoes were reported to have occurred from late yesterday until early today, though these have not yet been confirmed.

Roth said, "There is a high risk for more tornadoes in Alabama and Mississippi today. The probability is 30 percent. This is a quite significant rate."

Weather forecasters stated that with the storms regaining strength, the highest risk for potential tornadoes and severe thunderstorms is tonight. According to the National Weather Service, the storm will move eastward throughout the day and reach the Florida Panhandle and Atlanta by midnight.
