Trump: I might attend the ceremony, or I might not!

US President Donald Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron as part of the G7 Summit held in Evian, France. In his statement during the meeting, Trump noted that the agreement reached with Iran would pave the way for a new process in the Middle East, saying, "The entire agreement has been signed. The Strait of Hormuz has already partially opened. It will be fully open by Friday. Our relations with Iran are really very good."

When asked when the text of the agreement would be shared with the public, Trump said, "Probably very soon. I can say it will be sometime after Friday. I think it will be announced in the very near future."

Stating that a possible easing of sanctions on Iran would depend on whether the Iranian administration complies with the agreement, Trump said, "This is really a matter of behavior. If they do what they need to do, this process will start to work."

Arguing that the agreement with Iran would also have positive reflections on energy markets, Trump said, "I think very good things are going to happen in the Middle East right now. Very importantly, oil prices are falling and the stock market is soaring like a rocket today."

When asked whether he would attend the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed between Iran and the US in Geneva, Switzerland, Trump said, "It depends on the situation. James David (Vice President) is coming for this; actually, he was going to manage the ceremony. I will probably have left by then. We will be working until quite late. So, I might attend the ceremony, or I might not."

Stating that passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be completely free, Trump said, "There will be free passage. We discussed this a bit. There will be free passage, so I don't think we will need much help."

"We want to see if we can solve the Lebanon issue"

Touching upon the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Trump said, "We want to see if we can solve the Lebanon issue. Because this issue seems like it will never end. This is a small version of what we did before. But it shouldn't be difficult. Hezbollah, we need to talk to them a little bit."

"Now that the Iran issue is resolved, we will focus on this"

Addressing the Ukraine-Russia war, Trump said, "Maybe we can do something about Ukraine. I think both Putin and Zelensky are open to this. Now that the Iran issue is resolved, we will focus on this."

Welcoming the agreement reached with Iran, Macron emphasized the importance of the safe resumption of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz for regional stability and the global economy. Stating that France and the UK are ready to contribute to the safety of commercial vessels and mine-clearing efforts in the Strait of Hormuz, Macron conveyed that France could send assets with mine-clearing capabilities to the region in a short time if needed.

Also touching upon the Ukraine-Russia War, Macron stated that the peace process should not be conducted solely between Kyiv and Moscow, saying, "The right negotiation is one where Ukraine and Russia are at the table, but where Europeans and Americans are also present."
