UK announces 'suspension' decision regarding Israel
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that the United Kingdom will suspend certain arms export licenses to Israel, noting that this move does not constitute an arms embargo.
The UK, one of the countries supporting Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip, has made a surprising decision.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated in an announcement that the United Kingdom will suspend some licenses related to arms sales to Israel.
Noting that this move does not mean an arms embargo, Lammy reported that with this decision, 30 out of approximately 350 licenses granted by the UK to companies for sales to Israel will be suspended.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Lammy stated that the decision followed a review of the UK's arms export licenses, saying there was a "clear risk" that some could be used to "commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law."
