Ukraine launches drone attack on Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries warehouses

Ukraine has launched drone attacks on warehouse facilities belonging to Wildberries, one of Russia's largest online retail companies. Russian officials announced that facilities near the capital Moscow and in the city of Tambov, located approximately 475 kilometers from the capital, were targeted. In Tambov, 7 people lost their lives and 25 were injured. In Moscow, 1 person died and 37 were injured.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the attacks targeted major logistics facilities that enable Russia to procure sanctioned products used in drone production and navigation systems.

Zelenskyy also reported that Ukraine carried out attacks in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and the Russian-occupied Crimea region.

Serhii Kuzan, head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, emphasized that the Wildberries company is an important part of Russia's logistics capabilities, stating that Russian volunteer units procure military equipment, including radios, protective gear, and drone components, from the company's website. Kuzan said, "The main justification for the attacks on the warehouses is to disrupt the supply logistics of products, critical electronic parts, and sanctioned items that can be used for both military and civilian purposes by the Russian army and arms manufacturers."

Kuzan also said that the damage caused by the attacks could have a psychological impact on the Russian public, in addition to harming the Russian economy.

Wildberries is frequently described as the Russian equivalent of the US-based e-commerce giant Amazon. The value of the RWB Group, formed by the merger of Wildberries and the advertising company Russ, was estimated at approximately 12.6 billion dollars according to Forbes Russia's 2026 forecast.
