Blow to car fraudsters in Istanbul: 29 vehicles seized

As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, operations organized in a total of five provinces, centered in Istanbul, revealed that the factory-issued identity information of heavily damaged vehicles was transferred to other vehicles that were under lien or had seizure records through various methods.

The investigation determined that the suspects integrated the serial numbers of vehicles rendered unusable due to natural disasters, accidents, or fires into vehicles obtained from the market or abroad that were subject to official proceedings. Following this illegal process, known as "cloning" or "changing," the vehicles were sold to citizens without appearing on the radar of security forces, leading to a significant number of fraud cases.

According to the information obtained, it was understood that the fraudsters put a total of 29 vehicles up for sale through these fake transactions, causing grievances.

Police teams conducted operations in the Bağcılar, Bayrampaşa, Gaziosmanpaşa, Kağıthane, and Sultangazi districts of Istanbul, as well as in Adıyaman, Balıkesir, Isparta, and Şanlıurfa. During the raids, the 13 suspects in question were detained, and 29 automobiles were seized.
