A DEM fabrication: The claim that the Kurdish issue is a product of the early Republic era

Unless one is part of a conspiracy or an imperialist construct, no one says yes to terror. A Turkey without terror is a beautiful phrase... It sounds pleasant. When you look at the arrogant statements of the US ambassador, the statements of Abdullah Öcalan and the DEM Party, and the DEM Party's report that distorts history, the subject moves beyond the slogan of a "Turkey without terror," and it becomes very clearly understood.

The goal is to eliminate the nation-state and secular structure of the Republic of Turkey and transform it into a federated Islamic state. In this regard, the intentions of US imperialism and Israel are also clear. The words of the US Ambassador and the Syrian representative stand there. "Nation-states in the Middle East are a threat to Israel. What do you need a Republic for? Actually, a monarchy is better."

The first sentence in Abdullah Öcalan's statement regarding the dissolution of the PKK was already an attempt to legitimize terror by citing the Treaty of Lausanne. Convening this commission, participating in this commission, meant formally and effectively opening the War of Independence, the Treaty of Lausanne, and the Republic of Turkey to debate. We wrote this at the time as well. But unfortunately, we could not explain it to the CHP, which participated in the commission.

Among the demands of Abdullah Öcalan and the DEM Party are autonomy and receiving a share of the electricity produced and oil extracted in the region. After this demand was reflected in public opinion, a female DEM Party deputy stated it openly from the parliamentary podium.

"It is not your right to build dams on our lands and then sell us the electricity obtained from those dams at exorbitant prices."

She says "Our lands." She is declaring the Republic of Turkey, which was founded through the War of Independence and crowned with the Treaty of Lausanne, an occupier in our own homeland.

What are you still going to negotiate? Has the Republic of Turkey state fought against a terrorist organization and eventually lost, such that we are now debating our territorial integrity, our natural resources, and the structure of our state based on the demands of the terrorist organization, its representatives, and imperialists?

The report prepared by the DEM Party for the commission is based from beginning to end on distorting history. In addition to PKK terror, they are trying to legitimize Sheikh Said, a pawn of British imperialism, and the reactionary uprisings against the Republic.

They do not stop there; they distort history by linking what they call the Kurdish issue and the economic backwardness of the region to the founding years of the Republic and the era of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, acting as mouthpieces for imperialism.

The reason for the region's backwardness is the feudal order, the tribal leaders, and the cult sheikhs who want to maintain the feudal order in the region. During the era of Gazi Mustafa Kemal and the period leading up to the Second World War, Turkey, which did not have sufficient capital accumulation, embarked on a campaign of industry, education, state farms, railways, and modern urbanization across the four corners of the homeland, including the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. I am not going to explain this at length to those who shamelessly distort history.

In this article, I will share two maps. You will see very clearly where things started to be done during the founding years of the Republic and what kind of plans were prepared for the country's development.

The first map is the 1934 First Industrial Plan, Appendix No. 6. This map shows in which regions how much industrial investment would be made.

The second map is from Prof. Dr. Çağatay Keskinok. "Lessons to be Learned from Turkey's Urban and Regional Planning Experience in the 1930s." It shows the modern cities, railways, industrial facilities, and state farms that were planned to be established.

Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk had an instruction in 1937 to establish a university on the shores of Lake Van and to ensure the industrial and agricultural development of the region under the leadership of this university. The Second World War intervened, and it could not be realized. We were only able to establish the university in Van in 1982. It is very difficult to say that the universities established later during the AKP era are actually universities.

Did the Atatürk Republic leave the Southeast and East behind? The terrorist organization PKK and their spokesperson, DEM, also attack the Treaty of Lausanne and the founding years of the Republic in their latest report submitted to parliament. Thus, it is revealed how hypocritical they are and that they are mouthpieces for imperialism.

One of the most important moves of the counter-revolution in the economy was the blocking of the Land Reform (Law on Providing Land to Farmers) in 1945, the rendering of the Village Institutes dysfunctional in 1947 (their complete closure in 1954), and the inclusion in the Marshall Plan in 1948, which blocked investments and the development movement across the country; this both ensured the continuation of the feudal structure and spread misery.

The issue called the Kurdish issue will disappear with the termination of the landlord order, the tribal order, and the cult structure in the region. As seen in the maps, if we can realize education, industrialization, modern urbanization, and scientific agricultural production across the four corners of Turkey in line with the principles and Enlightenment Revolutions of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and if we can develop national consciousness, the secular structure, and the secular legal system, we can overcome all problems.
