Northern Marmara Motorway user manual

The Northern Marmara Motorway, which many of us use, has unfortunately been the site of many accidents and loss of life. 

Because this road has a Black Sea climate, it is exposed to extreme fog, rain, and wind. 

From the moment you turn off the TEM, it is possible to see that the rainfall increases by 3-4 times, but even when it is dry, lane violations in the left lane, lane violations by heavy vehicles, and a lack of reading signs on this road (which is a 4-lane road, after all) have caused many accidents to occur.

Look, this road does not forgive mistakes; it is the most troublesome road in Istanbul and is in a chaotic state due to the increasing population. 

On one side, those who say 'It's a 4-lane road, I'll step on it and get there early,' on the other side, trucks, and on the other, those trying to drive their vehicles... When you bring this trio together, unfortunately, an accident is inevitable… 

Driver training in our country is very weak; a person changes lanes without looking in the mirror, the person coming from behind cannot stop, and an accident happens. This should not be seen as just speeding, because these eyes have seen a vehicle that pulled into the 2nd lane from the left at 90 km/h without looking in the mirror cause an accident; we have seen all 4 lanes blocked by trucks on that road. The solution to this is not radar or 'don't speed' or anything like that, but rather having drivers who have learned to move according to the flow of traffic and who know the limits of the vehicle they are driving. 

I am calling on TOSFED to take action on this matter, both for more tracks and more advanced driving techniques training, and to include this in driver candidate training; in this way, we would travel in both safer and more fluid traffic. 

Now that we are entering autumn, let me remind you: when was the last time you checked your tire pressures or tread depths? (Pressures should be checked at least every 10 days.) Have a safe journey.
