It was stated that Tuncer, who left a lasting impression on a wide audience with her portrayal of the character Arsen Hanım in the series "Aşk-ı Memnu," had been battling brain cancer for a long time. The Film-San Foundation announced the passing of the artist, who died in the hospital where she was receiving treatment.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ANNOUNCED
Gülsen Tuncer's funeral will be held on Sunday, September 20, at Şişli Mosque following the noon prayer, and she will be interred at the Topkapı Kozlu Cemetery.
In a post on its social media account, the Film-San Foundation recalled that Tuncer served as the foundation's vice president between 2009 and 2011, stating, "We wish God's mercy upon Turkish theater, cinema, and television actress Gülsen Tuncer, and extend our condolences to her family and loved ones."
Following Tuncer's passing, many figures from the art world shared messages of condolence. Beren Saat, who starred alongside her in "Aşk-ı Memnu," also bid farewell to the veteran actress on her social media account.
"I just learned that we have lost the dear Gülsen Tuncer; I remember her with deep sadness, respect, and love. The wise comments and sweet jokes she made to us between scenes on the set of Aşk-ı Memnu, where there were so many young actors, will always remain in our hearts with great love."

Born in Adana in 1945, Gülsen Tuncer graduated from the Theater Department of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. During her artistic training, she took lessons from master figures such as Yıldız Kenter and Ayla Algan.
Tuncer, who began her professional theater career in 1968 with the play "Zilli Zarife" staged at the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theater, also took part in cinema and television projects alongside her stage work. In addition to acting, she worked as an assistant director and assistant on approximately 40 films.
Tuncer, who won awards for her performances in various productions throughout her long career, also left a mark on the memories of cinema audiences with her acting in films such as "Bir Tren Yolculuğu" and "Soğuktu ve Yağmur Çiseliyordu."
