A new development has occurred in the fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It has been reported that Altınbaş Holding Chairman of the Board İnan Altınbaş, who was arrested on allegations of stock market manipulation and money laundering, has made a payment of 680 million lira through his lawyer as part of a voluntary repayment mechanism.
It was stated that the payment was made within the framework of the process aimed at recovering illicit gains allegedly obtained during the investigation. Altınbaş was arrested on October 24, 2026.
REPAYMENT AMOUNT IN THE INVESTIGATION EXCEEDS 18 BILLION LIRA
The total amount of payments made under voluntary repayment in the investigation is also increasing. According to the latest information, the total amount paid by 37 individuals has reached 18 billion 340 million lira. It was reported that former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya are among those who have made repayments.
In the case file, the transactions of a total of 214 individuals and entities, including 141 natural persons and 73 companies, are being examined in line with findings that approximately 187.6 billion lira in illicit gains were obtained from three investment funds. It was noted that measures on the bank accounts and assets of some suspects remain in place to monitor suspicious money movements and prevent potential transfers.
During the investigation process, a 16 billion lira outflow from Atlas Portföy funds linked to the Altınbaş family, which was stated to have occurred before the investigation began, was also taken under review. Following investigations launched on suspicion of transactions contrary to capital market legislation, measures were applied to the assets of the Altınbaş family.
It had been reported that in his previous statement, İnan Altınbaş did not accept the accusations, argued that Atlas Portföy belonged to his brother Nusret Altınbaş, and stated that he was ready to contribute to the resolution of the grievances that had arisen.
Within the scope of the fund investigation, numerous detention and arrest warrants had previously been issued, and regulations regarding the funds decided to be liquidated had passed through Parliament and become law. The regulation paved the way for interim payments of up to 1 million lira to be made to investors.
