A new phase has been reached in the baby death case in Manisa, which has been among the files that could not be solved for years. It was reported that the incident, which occurred in 2010, has been clarified as a result of the work carried out by the Department of Investigation of Unsolved Crimes operating under the Ministry of Justice.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made statements regarding the findings reached within the scope of the ongoing investigation.

CRITICAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE 16-YEAR-OLD FILE

According to the information provided by Minister Gürlek, the baby death incident that occurred in Manisa in 2010 and remained unsolved was resolved as a result of technical and legal examinations.

It was stated that digital analyses played an important role in clarifying the incident while data from past years were re-evaluated within the scope of the investigation.

HEEL PRICK BLOOD DATA WAS THE TURNING POINT

It was stated that the most important development in the file occurred during the data examinations carried out in June 2026.

As a result of the analyses and cross-examinations conducted on the Ministry of Health's past heel prick blood records, it was reported that new findings were reached regarding the incident that had remained unsolved for years.

Authorities stated that these studies were the most important stage that changed the course of the investigation.

In line with the technical and intelligence information obtained within the scope of the investigation, the identities of the mother, who is considered to have caused the death of her baby by leaving it next to a trash container 16 years ago, and her sibling, who is alleged to have participated in the incident, were identified.

Acting on the instructions of the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, police teams carried out detention procedures for the two suspects.

It was reported that a judicial process has been initiated against the suspects on charges of "intentional killing of a descendant."

EMPHASIS ON INTER-MINISTERIAL COORDINATION

It was stated that the coordination between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior was effective in the process of clarifying the incident.

It was expressed that significant progress was made in the investigation as a result of combining the field work of police units with the examinations carried out in the databases of various public institutions.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek drew attention to the fundamental responsibilities of the rule of law in his assessment regarding the conclusion of the investigation.
