18-year-old Melek Pekkara dies under suspicious circumstances

18-year-old Melek Pekkara, who fell ill while returning to her university dormitory after celebrating New Year's with friends in the Gönen district of Balıkesir, has passed away.

Pekkara, who fell ill on Banyolar Street, was taken to Gönen State Hospital by an ambulance called by her friends. It was learned that Pekkara was unconscious and could not be saved despite the interventions performed at the hospital.

Following the young woman's suspicious death, an investigation into the incident was launched by the Gönen Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Melek Pekkara's body was taken to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
