Chemical leak at Mersin Port: 35 people hospitalized
A gas leak reportedly occurred at Mersin Port after a container holding chemical substances was punctured; some employees were transported to hospitals.
It is alleged that a gas leak occurred at Mersin Port as a result of a container, stated to contain chemical substances, being punctured. Following the incident, ambulances and teams from relevant institutions were dispatched to the port area.
According to reports by İHA, operations at the port were temporarily halted following the reports of a leak. Employees were evacuated from the port area as a precautionary measure.
Medical teams intervened in the area for a large number of employees who were reportedly affected by the gas. It was reported that some individuals were transported to nearby hospitals.
According to the allegations, a piece of construction equipment tipped over onto a container believed to contain ethyl acrylate. While it is claimed that the leak occurred due to the puncturing of the container, numerous teams were dispatched to the region.
Security measures were taken in the port area following the incident. While employees were removed from the area as a precaution, it was learned that 35 people were hospitalized.
