The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has initiated a new legal process against former Mayor Melih Gökçek and his inner circle. In the application submitted to the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau on August 7, 2026, by ABB lawyer Nadi Türkaslan, serious accusations were directed at the former mayor and the individuals accompanying him.

ALLEGATIONS OF BID RIGGING AND "CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION"

The criminal complaint targets Melih Gökçek, the Gökçek family, Beyaz TV Ankara executives, Osmanlıspor administrators, and other individuals alleged to have rigged tenders. The petition claims that these individuals acted within the scope of a "criminal organization" activity. Lawyer Nadi Türkaslan is expected to share details regarding the application and the content of the file with the public at a meeting to be held today at 13:00.

The background of the process involves allegations that the Gökçek family transferred unregistered money to various companies abroad. In reports brought to the agenda by Cumhuriyet newspaper columnist Murat Ağırel, it was claimed that the family had made agreements for a building in the German city of Düsseldorf and a shopping center in the city of Velbert. Following these allegations reaching the public, an investigation was launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, while Melih Gökçek responded to the developments with the words, "With God's permission, I surrender to His justice."
