A new development has occurred in the investigation conducted against actress Berna Laçin. Laçin, who was referred to the courthouse with a request for her arrest following her detention, was released after the completion of the procedures.
Laçin's lawyer, Uğur Poyraz, announced the development in a post on his social media account. In his post, where he also tagged Laçin, Poyraz used only the word "Released".
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
An investigation had been launched against Berna Laçin due to a post she made on her social media account following the news that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay had joined the AKP.
In the post she made on her X account, Laçin had used the phrase "İzmir was occupied before, too, Do not fear!".
Following this post, an investigation was launched against Laçin by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting."
SHE HAD BEEN DETAINED IN THE EVENING HOURS
As part of the investigation, Laçin was detained on the evening of October 7. Following her procedures at the police station, the prosecutor's office requested her arrest after she was referred to the courthouse.
While all eyes were on the process at the courthouse after Laçin was referred with a request for arrest, it was learned through the statement from her lawyer, Uğur Poyraz, that the actress had been released.
