Bilal Erdoğan takes aim at former national football players

The launch event for the Inter-High School Football Tournament GENÇLİG 2026, organized by the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA), drew attention with a match attended by many figures from the worlds of sports and politics. Bilal Erdoğan was among those who took to the pitch during the exhibition match held as part of the event.

PROTOCOL AND THE FOOTBALL WORLD ON THE PITCH

The promotional event was attended by Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, TFF Vice President Mecnun Odyakmaz, National Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella, and numerous former national football players. Bilal Erdoğan also wore a jersey alongside these figures in the exhibition match.

NOTABLE NAMES IN THE SQUADS

The red team included Bilal Erdoğan, Emre Belözoğlu, Mario Jardel, Osman Aşkın Bak, Necati Ateş, Mehmet Topal, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Emir Dağlı, Hasan Kabze, Hakan Bahadır, Tuncay Şanlı, and Selçuk Şahin.

The white team featured İbrahim Beşinci, Volkan Demirel, Serdar Aziz, Enes Eminoğlu, Mesut Özil, Ümit Karan, and İlker Yağcıoğlu.

In the contest between the two teams, squads composed of star names with an average age of 45 faced off. While the match ended in a draw, the red team was managed by 62-year-old Rıza Çalımbay, and the white team was managed by 65-year-old Hikmet Karaman.

Speaking after the exhibition match, Bilal Erdoğan made the following remarks regarding the names who were on the pitch and invited to the organization:

“The match went well; our side was like bees that don't make honey. I ran a bit. So many chances were missed. When you have such heavy hitters, they get a bit temperamental. Because of that, we managed the match, but we could say we dragged it out unnecessarily. We could have finished it much earlier. But it was very enjoyable.”
