Breaking News... Fund investigation: Ministry of Justice responds to Özgür Özel

The Ministry of Justice has responded to statements made by YENİ Party leader Özgür Özel regarding the fund investigation.

As public debate continues over the fund investigation, questions have arisen regarding when and on what grounds the investigation was initiated. Özel's remarks during the process, in which he claimed that some information had been leaked from the Ministry of Justice, drew attention.

In its statement, the Ministry of Justice shared the chronology of the investigation's inception, noting that the process began following the detection of unusual activities. The Ministry maintained that the investigation is being conducted independently of political debates, based on concrete suspicion of crime and financial data.

The written statement released on the Ministry's X account included the following:

"The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action after detecting unusual movements in certain funds and shares, initiating the investigation process by requesting information and documents from the Capital Markets Board on August 19, while liquidation decisions regarding the funds were taken on September 17. This chronology clearly shows that the investigation is being conducted in line with concrete suspicion of crime and financial data.

The process is being carried out with the strong coordination of our state's relevant institutions, in line with the determined will and close follow-up of our President. Our Ministry of Justice is fulfilling its duties and responsibilities to protect the rights of good-faith investors and our citizens, and to ensure the effective operation of the judicial process against those held responsible.

Precisely for this reason, there are attempts to cast a shadow over the investigation process, to make the determination of judicial authorities controversial, to create distrust among state institutions, and to undermine our citizens' trust in the state. The main opposition leader's statement that some information regarding the fund investigation was 'leaked' to them from the Ministry of Justice is also a grave and baseless slander aimed at casting suspicion on our Ministry.

It is observed that after unverified, manipulative content was circulated through opposition members of parliament, attempts are being made to direct the resulting questions toward state institutions once it was understood that the content—which also targeted our Minister—was false and manipulative. The effort to drag the judicial investigation, which is proceeding with determination, into political polemics by obscuring the discussions regarding the centers behind this content is clear.

The Ministry of Justice is fulfilling the requirements of its institutional responsibility to protect the rights of our citizens and ensure the effective operation of the judicial process, in line with the will demonstrated by our President and the strong coordination between our institutions. The fund investigation is being pursued with determination, not according to speculations, but only in the direction indicated by the evidence.

Respectfully announced to the public."
