AFAD reported that a 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Saimbeyli district of Adana at 14:19. Following the first earthquake, another tremor measuring 4.9 in magnitude was experienced in the same region at 14:36.
Citizens in Adana took to the streets following the earthquakes, which caused brief panic.
Following the earthquakes in Adana, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake also occurred in the Sumbas district of Osmaniye at 14:43. The tremors were also felt in surrounding provinces.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR AND THE MINISTER
Adana Governor Mustafa Yavuz announced that no negative situations have been reported so far and that teams are in the field. Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum also stated that developments are being closely monitored following the earthquakes and that incoming reports are being evaluated.
