Speaking about her daughter's health condition, Seğmen described their difficult journey with these words:
“The pain of losing a child is like no other. My daughter fought against great pain with her tiny body. I was by her side 24 hours a day. Multiply 4.5 years by three. She had a chronic illness from the age of 8 months. She would get sick with the slightest cold or whenever we traveled to and from Germany. She was intubated twice. She emerged from all these ailments very strongly. We left the hospital we entered on February 21 last year with applause on May 25. We spent a very beautiful summer together in Çeşme.

However, it was understood that she caught a virus during a routine check-up. Her left lung completely shut down. She was being kept alive with ventilator support. No private hospital would take Alya. She received treatment at İzmir City Hospital.”

SHE DESCRIBED HER DAUGHTER'S FINAL MOMENTS

“She was very tired of experiencing the same processes and needles over and over again. She looked into my eyes in such a way that I saw that exhaustion. I left the intensive care room, walked one step, and the news came. My child's heart had stopped. This was as far as it went. Alya did not want to live. I could not ask for that selfishness from her. Sometimes, no matter how much you fight, you cannot change the result…”

“My pain is very new, I am having crying spells. Alya never wanted me to cry; she would wipe my tears herself. For this reason, I will not give up on living. She is immortal to me. My child was a very intelligent girl who thought and reasoned for herself after what you said. We will definitely reunite one day. She gave me the magnificent feeling of motherhood. If it were possible, I would have given her my heart, but it was not to be.”

SHE ALSO LOST HER HUSBAND LAST YEAR
The pain Fatoş Seğmen experienced began before her daughter's passing. Seğmen explained that the death of her businessman husband Bülent Erdoğan, who passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 52, was also unexpected for her. Stating that her husband had no health problems, Seğmen said that he became ill shortly after a procedure performed due to a polyp detected in his intestine and lost his life.
