Chain-reaction accident on Istanbul's TEM Highway
A car driver lost their life and two people in a minibus were injured in a traffic accident that occurred at the Hekimbaşı junction on Istanbul's TEM Highway. The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the highway for an extended period.
A car with license plate 34 PBM 651, traveling in the direction of Ankara, struck a minibus with license plate 34 NLZ 394 near the Hekimbaşı junction in the early hours of the morning. Due to the impact, the car crashed into the barriers and overturned. Following the accident, police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
The driver of the car was trapped between the vehicle and the barriers and tragically lost their life. Two passengers in the minibus escaped with minor injuries. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance for treatment.
After an intensive effort by the teams lasting approximately one hour, the lifeless body of the driver was removed from the vehicle and sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
Due to the accident, vehicle traffic in the Ankara direction of the TEM Highway was disrupted for approximately two hours, resulting in long queues.
