Constitutional Court website inaccessible: First statement released

An access ban was imposed on Instagram by the BTK.

As reactions to the Instagram ban grow, the Constitutional Court announced that it has annulled the powers of the Presidential Communications Directorate that could interfere with freedom of the press and expression. It was emphasized that the decision was taken within the scope of fundamental rights and freedoms that cannot be regulated by Presidential Decree.

The post published on the subject from the official social media account of the Constitutional Court was deleted shortly after.

Later, while access to the Constitutional Court's website could not be established, the first statement regarding the issue was released.

STATEMENT ON ACCESS FROM THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT: THERE IS HIGH TRAFFIC

The Constitutional Court (AYM) announced that its website could not be accessed due to high traffic.

In the statement made by the AYM, it was stated: “Our decision numbered 2020/88, which annuls certain rules of Presidential Decree No. 66, has been published in the Official Gazette dated 2/8/2024 and is available for access. Due to high internet traffic, access to our site cannot be provided at this moment. For your information.”
