Criminal complaint against Hafize Gaye Erkan and her father in Bodrum: 'I will be a minister, I will have you exiled!'

A criminal complaint has been filed with the Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against former Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan and her father, Erol Erkan. It was stated that the application was made by the managers of a hotel and a holiday residential complex in Bodrum.

Swissotel Resort Bodrum Beach Hotel General Manager İlker Ali Şen and Çağdaş Turgutreis Holiday Homes Complex Manager Ertuğrul Kara filed a complaint regarding incidents allegedly experienced by the father and daughter with residents, hotel guests, and staff.

"HE WOULD HAVE PULLED HIS GUN AND SHOT YOU ALL" ALLEGATION

According to a report by Ekonomim, İlker Ali Şen alleged that Hafize Gaye Erkan threatened to use her authority during an incident with hotel staff.

Şen claimed that Erkan told the personnel, "I will be the Minister of Finance, I will be the Minister of Interior, I will have you fired, I will have you exiled."

Holiday complex manager Ertuğrul Kara also stated that he met with Hafize Gaye Erkan regarding common areas and allegations of mobbing.

Kara alleged that during the meeting, Erkan told him, "Thank God my father is sleeping, otherwise he would have pulled his gun and shot you all; I will have you thrown in jail."

NUMEROUS ALLEGATIONS IN THE PETITION

The complaint petitions submitted to the prosecutor's office contained various allegations regarding practices the Erkan family allegedly carried out in the common areas of the complex and the hotel.

The petition alleged that cameras with facial recognition systems were installed in common areas and signs were hung without permission.

It was also a subject of the complaint that hotel guests were filmed with mobile phones and that these individuals were harassed. Furthermore, it was alleged that hotel staff were forced to work on the family's personal errands.

The application made by the managers also included allegations that notes were left on the hotel's sun loungers and that there was interference with guests and pets within the facility.

It was argued that these situations negatively affected the standing of the hotel and the holiday complex in the eyes of customers and tourists.

LEGAL PROCESS INITIATED

İlker Ali Şen and Ertuğrul Kara filed a complaint against Erol Erkan and Hafize Gaye Erkan due to the incidents they alleged took place.

In the application made to the Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was requested that action be taken against the father and daughter on the grounds that they disturbed the peace and tranquility.

With the criminal complaint, the legal process between the parties has begun.

A FORMAL NOTICE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN SENT TO ERKAN'S VILLA

It was stated that Hafize Gaye Erkan purchased her villa located in the Bodrum Çağdaş Turgut Reis Holiday Homes Complex for 1.3 million euros and had previously experienced problems with the complex management due to this property.

A formal notice had previously been prepared by the complex management regarding Erkan, who served as the Governor of the Central Bank between June 9, 2023, and February 3, 2024.

In the notice, it was stated that Erkan was the owner of Villa No. 1, and it was warned that legal action would be taken if the actions alleged to have made communal living unbearable for other flat owners continued.

The notice included the following statements:

"We hereby notify you that if your actions, which cause communal living to become unbearable for other flat owners, continue and if the necessary obligations are not complied with, all legal rights and remedies available to our client, the complex management, will be exercised, including filing a lawsuit for the transfer of the ownership of your independent unit within the scope of Article 25 of the Condominium Law No. 634, and that you will be requested to bear the resulting litigation costs and attorney fees."
