Fatih Altaylı's take on the 'boycott decision' against exorbitant restaurants: 'To those who deserve it...'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı commented on the boycott against exorbitant restaurant prices taking place today and tomorrow, stating that a boycott should be used every day against those who deserve it. Altaylı added, "Do you think it is reasonable to accept being ripped off for 364 days and then say 'you can't rip me off' for one day!"
Journalist Fatih Altaylı commented on the boycott decision against restaurants with exorbitant prices, which recently started on social media and covers today and tomorrow.
"NOT SO STUPID AS TO NOT SEE THE BURDEN RESTAURANTS ARE CRUSHED UNDER..."
Altaylı used the following expressions in his column today:
"Of course, I am trying to understand the restaurants that remained closed for 18 months during the pandemic.
I am aware of the reality that a kilo of tenderloin has exceeded 1000 TL as a result of the livestock industry struggling due to AKP policies, that everything has become imported due to falling production in agriculture, and that fruit and vegetable prices have become terrifying.
I am not so stupid as to not see what has happened to rents in big cities, or the burden restaurants are crushed under when you consider electricity bills, natural gas bills, personnel costs, and cleaning and maintenance expenses.
I neither expect nor want a meal that I can prepare at home for 400 liras to be cheaper than the food I eat at home when it is placed in front of me in a sparkling environment with white tablecloths and napkins by a waiter who does his job very well.
"IT SHOULD BE USED EVERY DAY AGAINST THOSE WHO DESERVE IT"
In my opinion, a boycott is an effective and necessary weapon. But it is not something to be used for one day and then discarded. It is not something to be used against everyone. It should be used every day against those who deserve it. Do you think it is reasonable to accept being ripped off for 364 days and then say 'you can't rip me off' for one day!"
