Following stock market scandal, Sayan family makes a land move: Villagers' century-old lands become subject of lawsuit

It has emerged that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who resigned from her post following a scandal involving stock market transactions, and her family have targeted century-old lands belonging to villagers in Tekirdağ.

The name of Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who resigned from her position as AKP Deputy Chairperson following allegations of a 2.2 billion TL stock market fraud and a precautionary measure placed on her assets, and her family is back on the agenda with a new scandal. 

It has been determined that the Sayan family has been collecting shares from fields in the Köseilyas and Yenice regions of Tekirdağ that have not yet been zoned for development but are expected to see high value appreciation, leading to lawsuits with the villagers.   

'Partition' Lawsuit for Century-Old LandsIt was learned that following the collection of title deeds in the name of mother Hatice Sayan, a partition (izale-i şuyu) lawsuit was filed against the members of the family of Greek immigrants (I.K., F.K., Z.C., G.B.) who have owned the fields in question for approximately 100 years. According to the expert report in the case file, in addition to the field valued at 160 million TL, it was stated that the family is also involved in similar lawsuits with other villagers in the region.   

According to the report by Sözcü, the Real Estate Assets of Family MembersThe report also included high-value properties belonging to other members of the Sayan family:

Ayşe Hilal Sayan Koytak (Ambassador to Helsinki): A single-deed land of 17,719 m² in the region valued at 70-80 million TL and a duplex villa with a pool in Büyükçekmece Tepekent valued at 40-50 million TL.   

Ömer Fatih Sayan (Older Brother): 

A residence apartment in Kadıköy Four Winds Park Residence (50-70 million TL) and a villa in Pendik Omega Yeşiltepe Villas (30-40 million TL).   

Nazmiye Sümeyye Sayan (Sister): A duplex villa with a pool in Büyükçekmece Türkoba (40-50 million TL) and a luxury apartment in a complex in Alibeyköy (25-30 million TL).
