Harassment during driving test in Antalya: School principal arrested

In the Alanya district of Antalya, a school principal identified as N.K. has been arrested for allegedly harassing a female instructor, T.E., who was in the same vehicle during a driving test. The incident reportedly took place on July 25 at the driving test course in the Konaklı neighborhood.

T.E., who has been working as an instructor at a driving school for approximately 3 years, stated that she was in the vehicle with N.K., who was serving as a proctor for the exam. According to the allegations, N.K., who sat in the front seat during the morning session, moved to the back seat during the afternoon exams and made physical contact with T.E. at that time.

T.E. explained that she did not speak up at the moment of the incident so as not to affect the candidates in the exam, but that she secretly turned on her mobile phone camera to document her claim, recording approximately 4 minutes of footage.

FILED A COMPLAINT AFTER THE EXAM

After the exam was completed, T.E. went to the Konaklı Gendarmerie Station, filed a complaint against N.K., and handed over the footage she had recorded to the gendarmerie teams. In the investigation launched, it was determined that N.K. had been serving as a principal at a school in Alanya since 2024. It was learned that N.K. has been suspended as part of an administrative investigation.

I turned on my phone's camera silently. I recorded about 4 minutes of footage. While holding the phone with one hand, I was trying to protect myself with the other. Since the exam was ongoing, I did not want the candidates to be affected.

Stating that she was psychologically deeply affected by what she experienced, T.E. demanded that the incident not go unpunished. T.E. said, “We do not want to entrust our children to such a person. We do not want such a person to serve in the education community.”

N.K., who was detained by gendarmerie teams, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures. After his statement at the prosecutor's office, the suspect was brought before the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest, and was sent to the Alanya L-Type Closed Penal Execution Institution.

It was reported that N.K. did not make any statement when faced with the question “Are you remorseful?” from journalists as he left the courthouse.
