A fairy chimney at the entrance of the Cappadocia Göreme Open Air Museum has collapsed.

Numerous medical teams have been dispatched to the scene. It has been learned that there are fatalities and injuries in the incident, and the teams' intervention is ongoing.

IT HAD COLLAPSED IN 2024 AS WELL

In 2024, a fairy chimney made of tuff rock, which had loosened following snowfall in Cappadocia, collapsed with a loud noise during the night. There was no loss of life or property in that incident.

In 2025, a partial collapse occurred in a fairy chimney in the region. Upon notification, gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene and took precautions by cordoning off the area.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF NEVŞEHİR

Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök stated, "There is a landslide due to excessive rainfall. So far, there are 2 bodies. There is 1 injured person. Our injured person has been taken to the hospital, and their treatment has begun. Search and rescue operations are continuing at the scene."
