He had resigned from the CHP: The mayor alleged to be joining the AKP breaks his silence
It was alleged that Mayor Erol Karadere, who remained an independent after resigning from the CHP, would join the AKP. Karadere, however, stated regarding the claims about him, "I currently have no intention of joining any party."
It was claimed that Espiye Mayor Erol Karadere, who resigned from his party following the court's absolute nullity decision regarding the appointment of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the head of the CHP, would join the AKP.
Karadere resigned from the CHP on July 22 and has continued his duties as an independent mayor. Reports in the local press alleged that Karadere would join the AKP in the coming days.

In a report stating that the Giresun Öncü newspaper had spoken with Karadere, the mayor's statement regarding a party change was also included. Karadere stated, "I currently have no intention of joining any party," expressing that he would not join the AKP and would continue his duties as an independent.
HE PREVIOUSLY SERVED AS MAYOR FROM THE AKP
Erol Karadere won the elections he entered as an AKP candidate in the 2004-2009 and 2009-2014 terms and served as mayor. Karadere was re-elected mayor as the CHP candidate in the 2024 local elections.
