Heavy rainfall and cooler weather arriving in 10 provinces under yellow alert

With a new weather system set to affect the country, cloud cover is increasing in many provinces, particularly in the northern, central, and eastern parts, while a yellow-coded warning for heavy rain and storms has been issued for 10 different provinces. Citizens have been urged to be cautious against the risk of heavy rainfall, especially in the Western Black Sea line and cities in the eastern part of the Marmara region.

The Meteorology Department has issued warnings for short-term but locally effective thunderstorms in the eastern Marmara, central and eastern Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the entire Black Sea region, the northern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia, as well as Kırklareli and Tekirdağ in Thrace; Kütahya, Balıkesir, and Çanakkale in the west; and Bitlis, Van, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, and Kilis in the east. Thunderstorms are also expected in some districts of Antalya.

These rains are expected to be locally extreme, particularly in the surroundings of the Western Black Sea, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Çorum, Ordu, Giresun, and Trabzon. Attention was drawn to these regions, and warnings were issued regarding the risk of flash floods, flooding, and disruptions in transportation.

Temperature values will drop by 3 to 5 degrees in the northern, central, and western parts. No significant temperature difference is expected in the rest of the country.

The wind will generally blow from the north, light to occasionally moderate, across Turkey. However, strong winds from the north at speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected to be effective in the Marmara and Aegean regions.

Citizens in cities where heavy rainfall is expected have been advised to be careful and take precautions, and those in open areas, in particular, are advised to take measures against flooding. Experts emphasized that updated warnings should be followed in the coming days depending on changes in the weather.
