İmamoğlu's assessment of the US-Iran ceasefire: They must take responsibility
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has commented on the ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran. İmamoğlu called on the international community to ensure that peace becomes permanent.
In a message shared from his Presidential Candidate Office account, İmamoğlu stated, "The peoples of the region and the world are paying the price for the war started by the US and Israel.
For this fragile ceasefire to become permanent, the international community must get up from the spectator's seat and take responsibility. I appreciate Pakistan's role as a mediator.
But the real need is not temporary calm, but lasting peace. Turkey and all international actors must empower diplomacy without bowing to unilateral impositions.
Those who violate international law, those who started this war, and those who cause suffering to peoples will take their rightful place in history.
The worst peace is better than the most justified war."
