İmamoğlu sends message of support to Mansur Yavaş from Silivri: 'They became cruel as they disconnected from the citizens'

The Afyonkarahisar leg of the "The Nation Protects Its Will" meetings, initiated by İmamoğlu and his colleagues following his imprisonment, took place this week.

The letter sent by Ekrem İmamoğlu from his cell in Silivri to the rally was read by CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Chair Faruk Duha Erkan.

"I EMBRACE YOU WITH LONGING”

In his letter read by Erkan, İmamoğlu stated the following:

“Afyonkarahisar, the city of the Great Offensive that stands tall with its people and its fortress, and which won us our independence. Hello! I greet you with love, respect, and longing. I embrace each of you with yearning. Afyonkarahisar is special not only for its deep-rooted and glorious history but also for its beauties known to the world, and its abundance and prosperity.

But Afyonkarahisar's greatest and most special wealth is its people. I am proud of you, who are hardworking, brave, and protect the future of your country under all circumstances. I heartfully thank our Mayor Burcu Köksal, who works to add value to this beautiful city. I thank our party's provincial chair, Faruk Duha Erkan, and our entire organization for all their efforts in the struggle to protect the national will, law, and democracy.”

"OPERATIONS TARGETING MANSUR YAVAŞ ARE A PRODUCT OF A LACK OF CONSCIENCE"

“Dear citizens; our country has been experiencing major crises for a very long time. The economic, political, and administrative crises caused by the government feed and grow each other. The government, which makes the nation pay the heavy price for these crises, has brought the country to the brink of an abyss with the unlawful steps it has taken to suppress the national will and to design the upcoming elections from today. The goal of those who organize political operations against the Republican People's Party and CHP-run municipalities by using the judiciary as a tool is not to ensure justice.

They have long since lost their consciences and their sense of justice. They became cruel as they disconnected from the streets, the bazaars, the markets, and the citizens. The recent operation against the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which targets our very valuable Mayor Mansur Yavaş, is also a product of a lawless lack of conscience. Our nation looks at both Melih Gökçek and Mansur Yavaş and sees the true intent of those who use the judiciary as a tool for politics.”

“WE WILL MAKE IT A COUNTRY OF UNITY AND BROTHERHOOD”

“The trust that citizens have in the state's justice has been severely shaken, and this is shaking all the balances of our country, especially the economy. As the government moves away from law and democracy, it is impossible for citizens to reach prosperity and abundance. As the government ignores the rights and freedoms of citizens, social unity and order are disrupted, and the peace of the country is disturbed. The only solution is to go to the nation immediately and, under the arbitration of the national will, to return rapidly to law and democracy.

This is also the desire and expectation of our nation. The ballot box will come, and Turkey will enter a new and hopeful path. I have always trusted the justice and wisdom of our nation, and I always will. Together as a nation, we will overcome this ordeal, and together we will establish a humane and fair order where those in power know their limits before the citizens, and where the common interest of the nation is held above everything and everyone. We will make Turkey a country of abundance, prosperity, unity, and brotherhood.”

“86 MILLION WILL WIN”

“This sacred goal can only be reached with an understanding that sees everyone as one and equal to itself, and that wants for others what it wants for itself. That is why we say; justice first, freedom first, for everyone, everywhere. Our path is the path of those who never give up believing in beautiful days to come, even under the most difficult conditions.

It is the path of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who looked from Kocatepe to the Afyon Plain with those sparkling blue eyes and with love for the homeland and the nation. No power has been able to turn us away from this path, and it will not be able to. Those who see themselves as greater than the nation will lose; 86 million will win. Everything will be very beautiful. Ekrem İmamoğlu. Silivri Prison.”
