Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi met with Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris and Bulgarian Interior Minister Emil Dachev in Athens, the capital of Greece, as part of the "Trilateral Mechanism Meeting."
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi paid an official visit to Athens, the capital of Greece, for the "Trilateral Mechanism Meeting" to be held with his Greek and Bulgarian counterparts. Within the framework of the meeting, Minister Çiftçi met with Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris and Bulgarian Interior Minister Emil Dachev. During the meeting, topics such as combating irregular migration, the work of the trilateral mechanism, and the fight against terrorism and organized crime were discussed comprehensively. In his statement regarding his contacts, Minister Çiftçi said, "In the fight against irregular migration, we are resolutely continuing our multidimensional strategy that extends from finding solutions at the source to border security, and from effective apprehension to return mechanisms."

Stating that they contribute to regional security as well as Turkey's with every step taken, Minister Çiftçi said, "Every step we take contributes not only to the security of our country but also to the security of Europe."
Minister Çiftçi added, "We once again emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, increase information sharing, and develop a common sensitivity against the abuse of the asylum system."
Evaluating his expectations that the trilateral mechanism framework will yield positive results for the security and stability of the region, Minister Çiftçi said, "We believe that the trilateral mechanism, which we are advancing on the basis of sincere and constructive dialogue with our neighbors, will continue to form a strong foundation for the security and stability of our region."
